11111 Three Valleys
COMMUNITY
FOUNDATION
` AMADOR • LIVERMORE • SAN RAMON
For decades, community foundations serving as the anchor for local support has worked extremely well
throughout the Bay Area. Two nearby Community Foundations—the Silicon Valley Community
Foundation and East Bay Community Foundation —are doing innovative work on behalf of their regions.
Simply put, community foundations harness the spirit of individual and corporate giving, the power of
regional economies and the very important needs of all residents. This is now the time for our region to
capture this opportunity. Because the need is great and the timing is critical, we do not support an
extended timeline or creation of a new grants process.
Therefore, on behalf of the Board of Directors and Advisors, we offer the following ideas for partnership:
• A one-time request for funding of$50K, allowing the greater community to thrive.
• If desired, this$50K commitment can be pledged over a two or three-year period (aka, $25K/two
years or$16.6K/three years). Note, this is similar to what the city of Dublin is doing.
• Provide a start-up loan of$50K—payable at 0%amortized over five years—with the first payment
due July 2025 and thereafter in monthly installments. We are happy to have the opportunity to
'prove' ourselves to you.We know you won't be disappointed.
In addition to this funding request, we recommend that the City Council also consider opening a city
sponsored fund to allow for general community support of a priority community issue—like the proposed
skate park, all-abilities playground or the Amador Theatre renovation. We also would be delighted to
assist you as a grantmaking partner to support local nonprofits—which could save valuable staff time.
By supporting these investments, married with commitments from the greater community and via private
philanthropy, 3VCF can become a trusted partner and work to address strategic gaps and local and
regional needs. We would be delighted to work with you and appreciate your consideration.
Sincerely,
John Sensiba
Susan Houghton
Chair, Board of Directors Secretary, Board of Directors
cc.
