The Pleasanton community, including the Muirwood neighborhood, was invited to
attend, learn about the sport, and participate if interested. Staff was on site to collect
feedback.
• One community member watched the demonstration
• Approximately 10 community members provided feedback
• The majority of the comments were not in favor of locating a cricket field at
Muirwood Community Park and cited the same concerns as at the previous
outreach event.
February 12, 2022 — Community Outreach Event at Muirwood Community Park
(Attachment 5):
• 123 comments were collected during this outreach event
• Most of the comments were opposed to constructing a cricket field in this
location. Feedback included the following:
o Concerns over safety from both increased traffic and from the sport itself
o Concerns that members of the commission had conflicts when
recommending this location
o Concerns that the size of a cricket field was out of proportion for this park
o Concerns that it would not be a youth -only location for cricket
o Belief that Muirwood is a neighborhood park and should be utilized by the
neighborhood
o Several suggestions of other locations for a cricket field
Staff also received over 80 emails in response to this project (Attachment 6). While
some emails received shared feedback regarding both the pickleball and cricket
projects, the majority of emails received were in response to cricket and most were not
in favor of this location for many of the reasons previously cited.
In response to this feedback, staff revisited Bernal Community Park and the future
Staples Ranch Community Park to determine feasibility for a cricket field.
Bernal Community Park
