My company, Dodger's Paws, provides dog training and activities for local families <br />to come and learn how to build a better relationship with their canine family members. Some clients <br />come to our facility for structured puppy play, some come to learn a sport such as Rally, and many <br />come to our facility to work either with group basic training, therapy dog training, and even Canine <br />Good Citizen classes/certification. <br />In addition to the above activities we offer, more importantly, is our expertise and guidance for our <br />clients who have reactive dogs. These are not bad dogs, they simply have a hard time being around <br />other dogs. Part of the process of working with these dogs is to very slowly build up their <br />acceptance or tolerance of being around other dogs. At first, we may need to walk 200' or more <br />away, where the dog just can pick up the scent of another dog, orjust see one. We reward calm <br />behavior and build up confidence. <br />Gradually we work with the owners and their reactive dog to walk as near another dog as possible <br />until they just start to show signs of stress. That is where we back off until they relax again. <br />I am sharing this information with you because we have learned that the Pleasanton Parks & <br />Recreation Department is planning to make a cricket field in the middle of the largest section of <br />
