They had a city of Pleasanton banner, <br />but they were hiding in plain sight — it took me two passes through the market to find them, and I <br />was looking for them. Most people seeing the booth would have thought you could stop by and pay <br />your water bill. <br />After a few minutes of talking to them, it became clear that was an event to promote cricket, not to <br />get input from the community. As usual with these things, city staff had a slick response to any <br />objections and were dismissive of resident concerns. They said they were going to record all <br />comments received and report them to the Council, however, I talked to them for 10 minutes and <br />no one recorded a single comment— and there were about 5 people there representing the city. <br />There were at least 2 Park & Rec Commissioners there — there may have been others I didn't <br />recognize — and they just stood there looking smug. They did not ask any questions about my <br />comments or try to get clarification. It was clear that their minds are made up and they don't care <br />about the neighbors' concerns (good training for a future City Council job!)
