team. The primary objective was to obtain
input on the outreach strategy which included
stakeholder meetings, public workshops, public
hearings, city events, and an online survey. Overall,
the Commission was supportive of the proposed
strategy.
2.4 Public Workshop #1
The first community workshop was held virtually
on April 22, 2021. The intent of this meeting was
to introduce the project to the public and gather
feedback on Pleasanton's character and priorities.
The presentation began with a project background
summary and a description of the site. Next, the
inclusive design approach was explained with an
emphasis on equal access and opportunity for
everyone.
A discussion on how the different senses can be
incorporated into the design also took place, based
on the large variety of images shown. Participants
were then engaged in an interactive discussion and
real time survey. They answered questions about
what the spirit and character of Pleasanton meant
to them, favorite playground activities and features,
and what types of amenities they would like to
see in the All -Abilities Playground. Responses
were displayed live on the screen and recorded
for evaluation during the design phase. The
presentation ended with a discussion on next steps
in the design process so that participants could stay
involved throughout. A recording of the meeting
was posted on the City's project webpage,
w w w le o sa nton allab ili ti esp is yground_com.
2.5 Community -wide Survey #1
Following Community Workshop #1, the first
online survey was posted to the City's project web
page between April 20th -May 17th, 2021. Questions
and formatting mirrored the questions presented in
the community workshop; relating to preferences
and priorities for park amenities and play features,
as well as collecting opinions on the spirit of
Pleasanton's character. 165 survey responses were
received.
climbing ners, runnel slides, swingsrrronkey bar & picnic
sk takin^ e!emenr_ Bund, rp,rne, little houses
p(ayh_,;j_2 ,err., tr>tter
exercise
ground play climbing structures
Water play shadow';
swings, tururels, ciifnit
Swings Spinning socce-
Fveryrhl,ig .:.Ing, c,,n;b
zip line lake my kids
r4kf^5 IC, re Slide C
SErade [curer BridC}e5
b'lrinr]5 Y Sudes
t0Uilia+r:
Slides Climbing music elements
Ropes course Play
Swing Water ;-nny, slide
pull up
natural play Mrn-;key; bars
hide waver play, slides, covered :pares (tn crawl into)
:and and water play rninkey bars & unique slider
cr,)ve, climb, explore
Word Cloud reflecting community answers to the question,"What are your and your child's favorite things to do in a playground?"
MASTER PLAN 23
