4 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> e -• ° ==�" CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLEASANTON <br /> February 15, 2022 <br /> Community Development <br /> Traffic Engineering <br /> TITLE: AUTHORIZE A $70,000 PROJECT CONTINGENCY FOR THE BERNAL <br /> AVENUE AND NEVADA STREET TRAFFIC SIGNAL INSTALLATION <br /> PROJECT, CIP NO. 17532 FOR WORK PERFORMED BY RAY'S ELECTRIC <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The project will construct a traffic signal at the intersection of Bernal Avenue and <br /> Nevada Street. On May 4, 2021, City Council awarded a construction contract for <br /> $695,825 to Ray's Electric for the Bernal Avenue and Nevada Street Traffic Signal <br /> Installation Project, CIP No. 17532. Staff recommends authorizing a project contingency <br /> of $70,000 (approximately 10 percent) and City Engineer to execute change orders to <br /> address unforeseen conditions as the project moves forward. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1 . Authorize the Director of Engineering/City Engineer to approve and execute <br /> contract change orders for a contingency amount not-to-exceed $70,000 <br /> (approximately 10 percent). <br /> 2. Allocate $70,000 of additional Traffic Impact Fee (TIF) funding to CIP No. 17532. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The contract amount with Ray's Electric Inc. is $695,825. Allocating a project <br /> contingency of$70,000 will increase the project funding total to $765,825. The City's <br /> Transportation Impact Fee will fund the project contingency. <br />
