From:
To: Jennifer Haaen
Cc:
Subject: High density housing in Pleasanton
Date: Friday, November 19, 2021 11:09:09 AM
To everyone in Pleasanton's city government:
Please do not consider the intersection of Santa Rita and Valley for housing projects! There
are several reasons I object to this thinking:
1) It's a high -traffic area that would require additional crossing guards for school -aged
children, and even with guards, there will be increased accidents in that intersection due to
such heavy congestion all the time (Yesterday, I just saw a near miss of a kid on a bicycle
almost being hit by car at Valley and Greenwood, a much less busy intersection near Harvest
Park, and only the next stoplight down from Santa Rita).
2) This is a great shopping area where I can access stores & restaurants meeting most of my
needs. I would much rather see it developed for more convenient shopping and diverse
restaurant options.
3) I DO want Pleasanton to have more high-density housing, but I feel people living in those
homes deserve as much of a quiet, safe neighborhood as anyone else and there must be other
areas where this can be done while providing a better quality of life. This major intersection
would have traffic noise 24/7, pollution from congestion, and is unsafe for kids. An
alternative example would be the apartments near my home (between Sutter Gate and Mohr on
Santa Rita). It's near parks and neighborhoods where those families can access safe areas to
walk and play outside. They're still on a main artery road to access public transport,
sidewalks, nearby stores within walking distance, etc. Consider their quality of life when
choosing locations, please!
Your neighbor and resident in the Gates neighborhood of Pleasanton,
Click here to report this email as spam.
