SRO Assignment <br />A. The SRO will primarily work Monday -Thursday or Tuesday -Friday from 0700-1700 <br />hours. This schedule shall remain flexible according to the City and PUSD needs. <br />B. The SRO will report within the City Police Department command structure to the Youth <br />and Community Services Sergeant. <br />SRO Duties and Responsibilities <br />A. Collaborate with PUSD officials in maintaining a safe, orderly, and positive environment <br />for all students, staff, and visitors. <br />B. Serve as a liaison between PUSD and The Pleasanton Police Department. <br />C. Serve on the School Attendance Review Board. <br />D. Provide lessons to students regarding rights, responsibilities, and citizen and police <br />interactions. Lessons will be developed and reviewed by the District personnel. <br />E. Conduct School Site Safety Assessments. <br />F. Assist school staff with student disciplinary issues on a limited basis when public safety <br />related issues are present. Otherwise, all discipline for school conduct will be handled <br />solely by PUSD. <br />G. Handle non -emergency (cold) reports and conduct criminal investigations. <br />H. Attend school programs, assemblies and functions <br />I. Assist in the coordination of the "Every 15 Minutes" program. <br />PUSD Duties and Responsibilities <br />1. The PUSD shall provide the SRO with a private, appropriately furnished and climate - <br />controlled office space at designated high school site that can be secured and is <br />reasonably acceptable. This shall include a desk with drawers, chair, filing cabinet for <br />files and records which can be properly locked and secured, a telephone and <br />computer, and any other materials/furniture deemed appropriate and necessary by <br />CITY. <br />2. The parties shall ensure that the respective individuals assigned to the school <br />campuses and responsible for the implementation of this MOU are provided with a <br />copy of the MOU and are informed of the contents of this MOU and their duty to <br />implement it. <br />3. As feasible, PUSD shall provide the SRO with a reasonable opportunity to address <br />students, teachers, school administrators, and parents about the SRO program goals <br />and objectives. Administrators shall seek input from the SRO regarding criminal <br />justice problems relating to students and site security issues. <br />4. PUSD shall comply with the notification and the other requirements of Education <br />Code section 48902 which provides: <br />a. The principal of a school or the principal's designee shall, before the suspension <br />or expulsion of any pupil, notify the appropriate law enforcement authorities of <br />the county or city in which the school is situated, of any acts of the pupil that may <br />violate Section 245 of the penal code. <br />Page 11 of 13 <br />
