BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION <br />The Library and Recreation Department provides a variety of recreational classes, <br />preschool activities, environmental education and civic arts programs. It also manages <br />and coordinates all youth and adult sports, recreation activities for developmentally <br />disabled adults, and community -wide special events. The department advertises these <br />classes and programs in its triannual Activities Guide, and residents utilize the <br />document to register for the wide variety of activities available. <br />The Communications Division in the Economic Development Department, in conjunction <br />with the City Manager's Office, informs the community through the City's Progress <br />newsletters and an annual report to provide residents with a snapshot of the planned <br />progress made throughout the year. <br />As part of an effort to obtain high quality services at the most reasonable price, staff <br />conducted a Request for Proposals (RFP) process for printing services. On September <br />9, 2021, the RFP was issued, and one response was received by the stated deadline. <br />Folger Graphics' proposal was reviewed for content and required information. Based on <br />the quality of its proposal and past experiences with the City, Folger Graphics was <br />determined to be a reliable company to provide these services. <br />Folger Graphics has provided excellent service to the City of Pleasanton in the past and <br />has demonstrated a high level of professionalism and quality of work. <br />Staff believes it is appropriate to execute a three-year contract, with a not to exceed <br />amount of $273,000, with the ability to renew the contract for two additional one-year <br />periods with a not to exceed annual maximum of $91,000.
