Response times can be even longer if they are <br />already responding to a call near its headquarters in Oakland. Due to staffing <br />challenges and focusing its efforts on the CATT program, ACBHCS is unable to provide <br />personnel for crisis response services in the Tri -Valley. As a result, the City of <br />Pleasanton and Tri -Valley communities do not have access to a mobile mental health <br />crisis team that can respond within a reasonable timeframe to mental health calls for <br />service. <br />Alternative Response Unit <br />In January 2020 the City of Pleasanton established the Homeless Outreach Team <br />(HOT) in response to the growing number of unhoused individuals living in Pleasanton. <br />This team includes two full-time officers dedicated to working closely with the unhoused <br />in addition to support from CityServe of the Tri -Valley, ABODE, and other City <br />personnel. The Homeless Outreach Team has worked in collaboration with City staff <br />and outside service providers to find appropriate long-term solutions for the unhoused <br />which includes collaborating with mental health services and making referrals to <br />numerous agencies, including Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services, <br />Assisted Outpatient Treatment, Abode Services In -Home Outreach Team, and Bay <br />Area Community Services. <br />Page 5 of 11 <br />
