16 <br />THE CITY OF <br />PM : F�,..,,, e;:lot lI t '-_ CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />PLEASANTON. <br />October 5, 2021 <br />Engineering & Library and Recreation <br />TITLE: REVIEW OF CONCEPTUAL DESIGNS FOR THE SKATEPARK AT KEN <br />MERCER SPORTS PARK <br />SUMMARY <br />In 2014, the Parks and Recreation Master Plan identified the need for an additional <br />skatepark, at least 1 -acre in size. In 2019, City Council adopted the skatepark as a top <br />priority for its 2019-2023 workplan as Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Project <br />No. 20774 with $400,000 in funding for design services. <br />The City secured the design services of RRM Design Group in March 2021 and initiated <br />community outreach processes, which included three stakeholder meetings, a virtual <br />community outreach meeting and a community -wide survey. <br />Two conceptual designs were created for the proposed skatepark based on the input <br />received. The designs were shared with the Parks and Recreation Commission in <br />August and the Youth Commission in September. Several other community outreach <br />meetings will be held in the next few months to garner additional feedback. <br />City staff is requesting that City Council review and provide feedback on the conceptual <br />designs. Ultimately, one conceptual design will be created for final approval, which staff <br />anticipates will be presented to City Council for review and adoption in December <br />2021 /January 2022. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Review the Ken Mercer Skatepark conceptual designs and provide feedback. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The Ken Mercer Skatepark is funded through the Skatepark Capital Improvement <br />Program (CIP), Project No. 20774. The project currently has a budget of $400,000 for <br />design services. Expenditures to complete the conceptual design services are <br />anticipated to be $118,382, leaving $281,618 for the remaining design services. No <br />funding has been identified for construction. <br />
