Process and Timing
Should the City Council choose to adopt a resolution of intent to establish district-based
elections, and the City enters into an agreement with Mr. Shenkman to extend the "safe
harbor" period by another 90 days, the City will have until March 19, 2022, to adopt the
change to district-based elections. Within 10 days of entering into the extension
agreement, the City will prepare and make available on its website a tentative schedule
of public outreach events and public hearings to be held. Staff anticipates that these
public hearings will occur in January and February 2022.
District-based elections would then be used for the City's General Municipal Election
occurring in November 2022.
Jointly Submitted by: Fiscal Review:
/6?ilitidoyth„,„„L.
