G. Crew Leader: Crew Foreman shall have two(2)continuous years of on-the-job experience performing pest management and fertilizing, as well as general shrub, tree, and groundcover trimming activities. If the Contractor elects to move or change the site Crew Leader, prior approval must be obtained by the Parks Superintendent. H. Irrigation Technician: Irrigation Technician shall have at least one(1)continuous year of on-the-job experience performing sprinkler and valve repairs as well as irrigation controller programming. I. Pesticide Technician: Pesticide Technician shall possess a current State Certified Applicator's license. SCOPE OF WORK Main Street Planter Bowls and Trash Receptacle Lids (These Special Provisions are to be used in conjunction with the City Standard Specifications and Standard Details) SECTION 1. DESCRIPTION OF WORK,GENERAL In general, the work to be performed consists of maintaining healthy,attractive ornamental plantings in sixty-four concrete planter-bowls along Pleasanton's Main Street. The work shall also include the cleaning of thirty-one litter receptacle lids on Main Street. All plantings shall be inspected and approved by the City Parks Superintendent prior to planting. Planting operations shall conform to the specifications and details contained herein. The Contractor shall bear the risk of damage to the work by the elements or from any other cause,whether arising from the execution or non-execution of the work. The Contractor shall repair all damaged work at Contractor's expense. If the Contractor fails to remove from the vicinity of the completed work all plant debris, rubbish, unused material, or equipment, belonging to them or used under their direction during maintenance,the same may be removed at the expense of the Contractor, and the Contractor and his sureties shall be liable for the cost of removal. SECTION 2. MATERIALS Except as provided in this section, all materials required to complete the work under this contract shall be furnished by the Contractor. Plants which die or are destroyed as a result of the Contractor's operations or negligence shall be replaced at their cost, within 48 hours. Replacement soil shall be one part sandy loam (submit sample and analysis from approved testing laboratory), one part builder's sand, and one part nitrogen-stabilized redwood shavings. Add to these six(6) pounds of 0-10-10 slow-release dry fertilizer, 1.5 lbs. Page 17
