Micromax Micronutrients granular, and 10 pounds dolomite or dolomitic limestone per cubic <br /> yard of soil mix. <br /> Replacement plant materials shall be of the same container size and species as the original. <br /> The size of the plants must correspond with those normally expected for species and variety <br /> of commercially available nursery stock. <br /> All replacement plants shall have a normal habit of growth and shall be healthy,vigorous, <br /> and free of insect infestations, plant diseases, sunscalds,abrasions of the bark, or other <br /> objectionable disfigurements. Perennial plants shall be sturdy and shall have well hardened <br /> and vigorous root systems which are not root or container-bound. <br /> Replacement parts for the irrigation system, emitters,valves, piping,etc., shall be of the same <br /> manufacturer and model as the original existing equipment. Installation or repair of irrigation <br /> equipment shall conform to City Standard Details and the original project plans. <br /> Minor irrigation repairs($200.00 or less)are the responsibility of the Contractor to repair <br /> immediately(within 24 hours)and shall be included in the monthly contract price. <br /> The Parks Superintendent shall decide any and all questions which may arise as to the quality <br /> and acceptability of materials. <br /> SECTION 3. LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE, GENERAL <br /> The following maintenance specifications were prepared for maintenance personnel who <br /> possess a good working knowledge of basic horticultural practices and have hands-on <br /> experience with the tools,equipment, and materials required to perform all of the necessary <br /> operations of general landscape/grounds maintenance. <br /> Maintenance personnel should be familiar with the"design intent" of the planter-bowls in <br /> order to spend their working time most efficiently. <br /> To this end, it is suggested that the maintenance supervisor meet once monthly at a regularly <br /> scheduled meeting with the Parks Superintendent in order to evaluate the maintenance that is <br /> being performed, and to suggest improvements to influence the ultimate success of the <br /> plantings. <br /> SECTION 4. ANNUAL MAINTENANCE <br /> At the Parks Superintendent's discretion,the following work may be performed annually or <br /> every two years, at Owner's discretion, replacement of all plant materials and soil,and drip <br /> irrigation system renovation: <br /> Planting: Remove and replace plants or root prune and/or divide perennial plants as necessary <br /> to maintain plant vigor and reduce overall plant size to conform with design intent, or, if <br /> requested by owner's representative, one gallon size perennial plants shall be replaced with <br /> new species. <br /> Renovation of irrigation system: Inspect and evaluate all components of irrigation system <br /> from the point that it enters the bowl or pedestal. Replace any worn or damaged parts with <br /> new. Ensure all leaks, weak joints and damaged materials are repaired to new condition. <br /> SECTION 5. QUARTERLY MAINTENANCE <br /> Perform the following maintenance items four times yearly: <br /> Page I8 <br />
