IN THE AMOUNT OF $519,120 FOR THE <br /> LIVERMORE PLEASANTON FIRE DEPARTMENT FIRE TRAINING <br /> TOWER REPAIRS PROJECT, CIP NO. 21458 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> This project consists of structural repairs and replacement of protective fire tiles <br /> to resume live fire training at the Livermore Pleasanton Fire Department (LPFD) <br /> Fire Training Tower. The project will also include additional concrete repairs to <br /> complete recommended maintenance of the building to extend its useful life. Bids <br /> were received on August 10, 2021, and staff recommends award of the <br /> construction contract to the lowest responsible bidder, Ashron Construction and <br /> Restoration, Inc. (Ashron), in the amount of$519,120 for the base bid plus the <br /> bid additive for the Fire Training Tower Repairs Project, CIP No. 21458. The cost <br /> of the repairs will be shared between the City of Pleasanton and City of <br /> Livermore. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> 1. Approve the plans and specifications, review the bids received, and award a <br /> construction contract for the project to Ashron Construction and Restoration, Inc. of <br /> Galt, CA, for the base bid plus bid additive, in the amount of$519,120. <br /> 2. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the construction contract. <br /> 3. Authorize the Director of Engineering to approve and execute contract change <br /> orders for a contingency amount not-to-exceed $75,530 (approximately 15 percent). <br /> 4. Appropriate $420,000 from the General Fund — Capital Improvement Program <br /> Reserve (CIPR), to the Fire Training Tower Repairs Project, CIP No. 21458. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Project funding totals $230,000, with $31,456 expended to date. The total estimated <br /> project expenditure is $650,000, leaving a project shortfall of$420,000. Staff <br /> recommends the appropriation of$420,000 from the General Fund — Capital <br /> Improvement Program Reserve (CIPR), as outlined in the recommendations above, to <br /> complete funding for this project. The funding and anticipated project expenditures are <br /> detailed in Attachment 1. The cost of the repairs will be shared between the City of <br /> Pleasanton and City of Livermore, the extent to which has not yet been determined. It is <br /> anticipated the City of Pleasanton will advance the funding and seek reimbursement <br /> from City of Livermore following completion of the project. <br />
