I would like to lend my strong support for their move to our City of Pleasanton. I am a retired infectious disease physician. My wife and I moved to Pleasanton from San Francisco 6 years ago. We have found Pleasanton to be a warm, welcoming and charming community. It is a well governed community, thoughtfully progressive, clean and safe. One of the notable features about Pleasanton is its growing diversity. As an Asian American who grew up in the deep South of the 1950s and who has lived in many parts of the United States as well as overseas, I have noted that acceptance and diversity complements and strengthens a caring and safe community. Diversity goes far beyond race, ethnicity and culture. Diversity manifests itself in food establishments, groceries, restaurants, festivals, entertainment, medical/health facilities, schools, libraries, businesses, and architecture. And yes, even places of worship. Our own church, Pathway Community Church, with largely Asian American membership, moved from Dublin to Pleasanton about 5 years ago. We have felt welcomed and are very happy here. Two of my dearest neighbors are members of Resurrection Greek Orthodox Church. My wife and I have been invited to their functions, attended their festival and met with their clergy. I would urge the Planning Commission to seriously consider their proposal and to approve their move to Pleasanton. We should welcome the strength of their culture, people and religion to our community. Respectfully, Milton H.
