April 7, 2021
SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIAL,
Provided to the Planning Commission
After Distribution of Packet
4/9/2021 SA
Date Distributed: .
Dear members of the Pleasanton Planning Commission,
I am writing in support of the application of Resurrection Greek
Orthodox Church to construct a new church home for its members on Dublin
Canyon Road.
I learned about the proposal from one of its members, who said the
location would really be a blessing to Orthodox Christians in the Tri -Valley
area. He shared pictures of the gorgeous building and explained how well
the project would fit in with existing churches and residential developments
there.
I live on the south side of Pleasanton and was not familiar with that area
of town even though I've traveled on 580 for decades. So I drove out there
to see for myself. It's a nice area! Not difficult to get to.
I drove by the site several times and finally parked so I could picture the
building and campus. I think it will fit in very well and even be an
enhancement to the neighborhood. With traffic mainly on weekends,
extensive landscaping and visually appealing structures, as well as its
closeness to Foothill Road, I can't imagine any objections to it. And I expect
the cultural activities and social -mindedness of the congregation to be
quickly recognized and appreciated as assets for the community.
So for what it's worth, I am voicing my support and enthusiasm for this
proposal by the Resurrection Greek Orthodox Church. I see only pluses for
Pleasanton and the Dublin Canyon environs. I think it would be a very good
use of that parcel.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Michael Bailey
resident of
Pleasanton
