Dear Members of the Planning Commission, <br />We are writing to encourage you to endorse the Resurrection Greek Orthodox <br />Church proposal to relocate to Pleasanton. <br />We have resided in Pleasanton for fifty-three years and have raised our family in a <br />community that has done a wonderful job in providing so many benefits when <br />raising a family. <br />The fact of the matter is that "just one item missing" for many Orthodox <br />Christians that being "our house of worship" as there is none available anywhere <br />in the Tri -Valley and surrounding cities in the Valley. <br />Thus, Orthodox Christians have had to travel to the Ascension Cathedral in <br />Oakland or the Resurrection Greek Orthodox Church in Castro Valley. <br />We together with many families are overly excited with the possibility of having a <br />parish conveniently located to provide not only for residents of Pleasanton but <br />the surrounding cities. So many parishioners of the Cathedral in Oakland and <br />RGOC that now reside in the Valley. <br />Personally, Argie taught for 22 years at Lydiksen Elementary until retiring in 2010. <br />My employment was with Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream and when joining them <br />moved our Divisional Offices to Pleasanton. <br />Personally, we have over the years been involved in a variety of outreach <br />activities benefiting the residents of Pleasanton and are proud to have done so! <br />We thank your predecessors over the years for providing a City we can be <br />immensely proud of and now we need your support in making our dream come <br />true of having our house of worship enhance our City. <br />Thank you, <br />Jim and Argie Vlamis <br />March 23, 2018 <br />
