BACKGROUND
The City of Pleasanton maintains approximately 85 acres of street median landscaping
accounting for nearly 40 percent of the total medians maintained in the city. To
effectively control costs, median mulch replenishment has been contracted out, allowing
Parks staff to focus on more specialized services, such as irrigation, plantings and field
maintenance. Funding has been allocated in the Parks Maintenance Division Operating
and Repair and Replacement for miscellaneous contract landscape maintenance.
In August2018, staff conducted an extensive out-reach effort to ensure that vendors
were given sufficient notice and opportunity to submit bids. A total of five proposals
were received and New Image Landscape provided the lowest qualified bid. The Parks
Maintenance Division is satisfied with the execution of the contract duties by New Image
Landscape for the prior three contract years.
This proposed first amendment is divided into two years with each year addressing a
pre-determined section of the city. This contract extension will provide for mulch
replenishment for medians that fall within route 1 and route 2. Median route 3 will fall
into the next mulch replenishment contract. The project will be initiated each fall and the
contractor will have a designated timeframe to complete the work. Project administration
is under the direction of the Parks Maintenance Division.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review: Approved b :
V.‘.\\L\L
Kathleen Yurchak Tina Olsen Nelson Fialho
Director of Operations and Director of Finance City Manager
Water Utilities
Attachments:
1.
