THE CITY OF 1 <br /> 8-i <br /> CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLE ASANT0\ <br /> June 1, 2021 <br /> City Council <br /> TITLE: ADOPT PROCLAMATION RECOGNIZING JUNE 2021 AS LGBTQ+ PRIDE <br /> MONTH <br /> SUMMARY <br /> In recognition of LGBTQ+ Pride Month, the City Council will consider adopting a <br /> proclamation recognizing June 2021 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month and flying the Progress <br /> Pride flag throughout June at the City administration building at 123 Main Street. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Adopt attached proclamation recognizing June as LBGTQ+ Pride Month in Pleasanton, <br /> accompanied by flying the Progress Pride flag throughout June at the City <br /> administration building at 123 Main Street. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> There is no financial impact with adoption of the resolution. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The City of Pleasanton recognizes the importance of equality and freedom and is <br /> committed to fostering acceptance of all its residents and preventing discrimination and <br /> harassment including on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. The City <br /> Council has proclaimed June as LGBTQ Pride Month since 2019. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> Members of City Council requested a proclamation to acknowledge and support the <br /> LGBTQ+ community by declaring June 2021 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month to be <br /> accompanied by flying the Progress Pride flag at the City administration building at 123 <br /> Main Street. With the Council's approval, the Progress Pride flag will be flown June 2 <br /> through June 30, 2021. <br /> Submitted and Approved by: <br /> i.
