CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 500 <br /> <br /> PROVIDING FOR COLLECTION, REMOVAL <br /> AND DISPOSAL OF REFUSE AND GARBAGE: <br /> AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 345 <br /> AND ORDINANCE NO. 495 <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1.00 DEFINITIONS: Garbage, waste matter and refuse as used <br />in this ordinance shall mean animal and vegetable waste including <br />dried weeds, grass, garden and lawn trimmings, and all other <br />noncombustible waste material. <br /> <br /> 1.01 Residential Unit shall mean any occupied premise having <br />bathroom or toilet, and kitchen plumbing facilities, suitable for <br />residential occupancy by a number of persons living together as <br />a single family, including single family dwellings, and each group <br />of occupied rooms constituting living quarters for a single family <br />in any duplex, triplex, apartment, court or other multiple dwell- <br />ing structure, but excluding any living or sleeping quarters in <br />hotels, apartments, rooming houses, motels or auto courts where <br />kitchen facilities are not provided. <br /> <br /> 1.02 Commercial Unit shall mean any occupied premise speci- <br />fically utilized for the purpose of engaging in commercial <br />activity as defined by Articles 9 through 13 of Ordinance No. 309, <br />as amended. <br /> <br /> 1.03 Industrial Unit shall mean any occupied premise <br />specifically utilized for the purpose of engaging in industrial <br />activity as defined by Articles 14 and 15 of Ordinance No. 309, <br />as amended. <br /> <br /> 2.00 GENERAL PROVISIONS. Each and every residential unit, <br />commercial unit and industrial unit, as defined above shall have <br />garbage service by the refuse collector of the City of Pleasanton. <br />To provide such service, the City may grant a franchise for the <br />exclusive right to collect, transport and dispose of refuse pro- <br />duced and accumulated within the limits of the City of Pleasanton <br />as provided hereafter. <br /> <br /> 3.00 REFUSE SERVICE. The City Manager, or the Director of <br />Public Works, shall cause all buildings or structures specified <br />in Section 2.00 hereof within the corporate limits of the City of <br />Pleasanton to be visited from time to time, and the sanitary <br />condition of said buildings or structures examined to determine <br />whether the provisions of this ordinance are complied with. Upon <br />notification by duly authorized representative of the City, all <br />persons, including the refuse collector, shall comply with the <br />provisions of this ordinance or be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor. <br /> <br /> 3.01 In all cases of disputes or complaints concerning <br />receptacles for refuse and the place where they are awaiting <br />removal of their contents, the quantities to be removed, the <br /> <br /> - 1 - <br /> <br /> <br />
