CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 492 <br /> <br /> RESIDENTIAL OVERLAY DISTRICT (ROD), <br /> AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 309 (ZONING <br /> ORDINANCE) BY ADDING ARTICLE 6A <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1o Ordinance No. 309 (Zoning Ordinance) adopted <br />April 18, 1960, as amended, is hereby further amended by adding <br />Article 6A, "RESIDENTIAL OVERLAY DISTRICT (ROD)", to read as <br />follows: <br /> <br /> "ARTICLE 6A <br /> <br /> RESIDENTIAL OVERLAY DISTRICT (ROD) <br /> <br /> Sec. 6Ao 100 Purposes <br /> <br /> In addition to the objectives prescribed in Articles 1, 2 and 3, <br /> the Residential Overlay District is included in the Zoning <br /> Ordinance to achieve the following purposes: <br /> <br /> ao To establish general controls in addition to those estab- <br /> lished in Article 5, 6, 7, and 8 in order to direct the <br /> development of large parcels of land in conformance with <br /> the residential development policies as set forth in the <br /> General Plan adopted by the City Council. <br /> <br /> b. To encourage variety and a mixture of housing types, <br /> densities and lot sizes in large developments. <br /> <br /> c. To provide an overlay zoning district that by itself <br /> carries no force but provides a clear declaration of intent <br /> and which when overlying a residential zoning district acts <br /> in combination with and modifies the requirements of the <br /> underlying basic zoning. <br /> <br /> Sec. 6A. 101 Initiation <br /> <br /> An amendment to reclassify property to ROD may be initiated by tr <br /> owner, the City Planning Commission, or the City Council. It is <br /> the intent of this section, that the Commission shall initiate <br /> an ROD designation in predominantly undeveloped areas where the <br /> application of the requirements of the article would contribute <br /> toward achievement of the objectives prescribed in the adopted <br /> General Plan and the purposes prescribed in Sec. 6A.100 Purposes <br /> <br /> <br />
