Ken Mercer Sports Park Skatepark
r r m Scope of Services
March 1, 2021
design Page 4 of 9
group
Task B: Community Outreach
Subtask B.1: Public Outreach Workshop #1
RRM and Wormhoudt will prepare for and facilitate a virtual public workshop to obtain initial
input and feedback on the vision for the project. This will be a good opportunity to present
some very preliminary design thoughts related to character and potential themes and skate
features. Materials will include imagery of skate features and sample Wormhoudt designs.
Activities such as town hall-style discussions, break-out groups, Google Sheets for live note-
taking, and a live survey will be utilized to collect feedback on favorite skate experiences and
features desired by community members. Following the workshop, RRM will provide a summary
of community input and the survey utilized during the workshop for the staff to post on the
City's website to collect additional feedback.
A key part of this initial stakeholder input is the online survey for Wormhoudt to gain an
understanding of the local skater community. This survey is complementary to the workshop.
The survey will consist of the following elements:
• Brief site analysis overview to communicate any physical and policy/planning constraints
that will influence the design of the skatepark
• Participant background data collection, e.g., preferred sport(bike, scooter, skate), years
of riding experience, skill level, place of residence, etc.
• Terrain specific design input soliciting the participants' preference and ideas for the
types of terrain that they would like included in the skatepark
Deliverables:
• Facilitate one (I) virtual workshop, including graphic materials for the task
• Summary of feedback
• Online survey for the City to post on its website
Subtask B.2: Public Outreach Workshop #2
Depending on continuing COVID restrictions, RRM and Wormhoudt will prepare for and
facilitate either a virtual workshop or an in-the-park workshop to obtain feedback on the two
park design alternatives created in the Draft Conceptual Plan task (Subtask C.I). In addition to
the graphic materials created in Subtask C.I, RRM will prepare all supplemental materials
necessary to conduct the workshop and gather feedback from participants.Wormhoudt will
prepare a follow-up survey that allows participants to comment on the overall plans and vote on
specific, individual favored features. Following the workshop, RRM and Wormhoudt will provide
a summary of community input.Wormhoudt will interpret the skate input for effective
translation into the final plan.
Deliverables:
• Facilitate one (I) virtual or on-site workshop, includes all graphic materials for the task
• Summary of feedback
• Follow-up online survey and provide a summary including analytics
