THE CITY OF 8
212/ CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
jL-EASANTON¢
March 2, 2021
Engineering
TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
PLEASANTON TO EXECUTE THE GRANT OF A UTILITY
DISTRIBUTION EASEMENT TO PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC
ACROSS THE LIVERMORE PLEASANTON FIRE STATION NO. 3
PROPERTY LOCATED AT 3200 SANTA RITA ROAD TO PROVIDE
GAS AND ELECTRIC SERVICES TO THE FACILITY
SUMMARY
The Livermore Pleasanton Fire (LFPD) Fire Station No. 3 project, which demolishes the
existing 50-plus-year-old station and constructs a new station on the property at 3200
Santa Rita Road is currently underway. The new station utilizes the site differently and
more efficiently than the old station. The new station will have a more appealing
presence on the site for motorists and pedestrians passing by, including a small parking
lot for station visitors and relatively extensive landscaping compared to the existing
station. These features will all be located in the limited area between the building and
the roadways of West Los Positas Boulevard and Santa Rita Road. So as to not detract
from the aesthetics of the station, staff has worked with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E)
to install the equipment needed to provide gas and electric utilities to the building further
back on the site, next to the rear apparatus bay doors. This location will be shielded
from public view and will not interfere with the station operations nor the station
aesthetics from the roadway views. However, to locate the equipment on the site and
not in the roadway right-of-way, the City must grant PG&E an easement across the
property. It is recommended that City Council adopt the attached resolution that
authorizes the Mayor of the City of Pleasanton execute the grant of the needed
easement.
RECOMMENDATION
1 . Adopt the resolution authorizing the Mayor of the City of Pleasanton to execute the
grant of the Utility Distribution Easement to Pacific Gas and Electric so that gas and
electric utilities can be provided to the new fire station building in accordance with
staff's determination of how to best locate the needed equipment on the site.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There is no significant cost associated with this Grant Deed.
