18
THE CITY OF
s -
~ `°' -b-' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
PLEASANTON.
February 16, 2021
City Manager
TITLE: RECEIVE UPDATE REGARDING CITY'S COVID-19 RESPONSE AND
RECOVERY ACTIONS AND PROVIDE DIRECTION ON ADDITIONAL
FACE COVERINGS COMPLIANCE
SUMMARY
On April 15, 2020, the City Council received an initial update on the City's response to
the COVID-19 emergency and shelter in place order. Over the months since the onset
of the pandemic, the City has been directing the response and recovery efforts on
behalf of the community, resulting in new or revised policies, changes to the delivery of
existing programs and services, accommodations to physical workspaces, an
emergency rental assistance program for eligible residents, a business support
program, support for a Tri-Valley food distribution center, and regional COVID testing
and vaccination sites, to sustain City operations and meet the needs of Pleasanton
residents. All of these efforts are critical to allowing our community to successfully
transition to post-COVID activities.
From the onset of the COVID restrictions, the City has messaged the requirement for
individuals to use a face covering when in public. At its meeting on February 2, 2021, a
majority of the Council asked to agendize a discussion about additional steps to
increase community compliance in using face coverings; options include additional
messaging to the community, additional signage at City-owned property, a face
covering requirement for all City-owned property, and a citation under the Pleasanton
Municipal Code.
RECOMMENDATION
Receive update regarding City's COVID-19 response and recovery actions and provide
direction to staff on additional face coverings compliance.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There is no financial impact to the City at this time.
