CONCLUSION
After a full analysis of the options, staff recommends that the City Council adopt
Renewable 100 as the default electricity product for Pleasanton's municipal accounts
and for Residential, Commercial, and Industrial accounts, adopt Option 1- Brilliant 100.
This option will provide Pleasanton customers with 100 percent carbon free energy with
no change to their utility bills. By opting municipal facilities into Renewable 100, the City
can lead by example and achieve Climate Action Plan 2.0 goals.
After the City Council provides direction, city staff, along with EBCE, plan to engage
with the community regarding the transition to EBCE this spring. EBCE has created a
marketing, education and outreach plan for Pleasanton (attachment 2) and plans to
send out four mailers to all residential, commercial, and industrial account holders
explaining what EBCE is, the transition to EBCE, and their options to opt down, out or
up. These mailers will go out in the two months prior to Pleasanton's transition to EBCE,
and the two months after the transition. City Staff will bolster EBCE's outreach efforts
with additional information to the community through the City's social media accounts,
and newsletters.
Submitted by: Fisc I Review: Approved y:
/k1A-
Zachary Reda Tina Olson Nelson Fialho
Management Analyst Director of Finance City Manager
Attachments:
1.
