5 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> -Eh./ <br /> /r�- � . � CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> January 19, 2021 <br /> Community Development <br /> Traffic Engineering Division <br /> TITLE: INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 11 , CHAPTER 11 .20, <br /> SECTION 11 .20.010 OF THE PLEASANTON MUNICIPAL CODE <br /> CHANGING THE SPEED LIMIT ON PORTIONS OF STONERIDGE DRIVE <br /> FROM 45 MPH TO 40 MPH <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The City reviews and updates speed limits on a yearly basis to ensure that the posted <br /> limit provides the most orderly movement of traffic in a safe and efficient manner, and <br /> that all posted limits conform to the requirements outlined in the California Vehicle <br /> Code, including those requirements related to the setting of legal speed limits. The most <br /> recent Engineering and Traffic Survey supports a reduction in the speed limit for <br /> portions of Stoneridge Drive, from 45 MPH to 40 MPH. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Adopt the ordinance changing the posted speed limit on Stoneridge Drive between <br /> Stoneridge Mall Road and Johnson Drive from 45 MPH to 40 MPH and between <br /> Johnson Drive and Hopyard Road from 45 MPH to 40 MPH. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> There is a one-time cost to replace the existing speed limit signs with new signs <br /> displaying the updated speed limit. This cost is estimated at $2,000 and will be funded <br /> through the Annual Traffic Buttons and Line Markers Capital Improvement Project, CIP <br /> No. 20507. <br />
