8 <br /> THE CITY OF <br /> fL-N <br /> i110in _,_ �__ CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLEASANTON <br /> December 1, 2020 <br /> Information Technology <br /> TITLE: APPROVE PURCHASE FROM LANAIR GROUP, LLC FOR EQUIPMENT TO <br /> UPGRADE VIRTUAL DESKTOP INFRASTRUCTURE SYSTEM IN THE <br /> AMOUNT OF $259,111 <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The City employs multiple methods and technologies to facilitate end-user computing, <br /> among these are virtualized desktops that replicate a user's desktop and access to the <br /> information and programs needed to complete their job duties. The City's current <br /> Virtualized Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) platform and related equipment are at their <br /> functional end-of-life for the operating system. This purchase of Dell/EMC VXrail Hyper- <br /> Converged equipment will allow desktop computers to continue to run Virtualized <br /> Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) to seamlessly allow teleworking while capacity restrictions <br /> limit the number of on-site employees in City facilities. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Staff recommends the City Council approve a purchase in the amount of $259,111 for <br /> Dell/EMC VXrail hyper-converged equipment to support the use of Vitalized Desktop <br /> Infrastructure and authorize the City Manager to execute a purchase order with Lanair <br /> Group, LLC. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The Information Technology Department issued an Invitation for Bid on a specification <br /> designed by Dell/EMC for a Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) solution to replace <br /> the City's current equipment with a system that has the capacity to operate current and <br /> future VDI needs. The funds for this purchase are from the City's CARES Act allocation. <br />
