fExhibitA
MEMORANDUM
To: Matt Gruber, City Landscape Architect, City of Pleasanton
From: Ed Armstrong, Senior Habitat Restoration Specialist/Landscape Architect, Dudek
Subject: Reduced Scope of Work for Augustin Bernal Mountain Bike Trail Design Services
Date: 10/1/2020
cc: Katherine Waugh, Dudek
Hi Matt,
Thank you for the opportunity to support the City through preparation of Plans,Specifications and Estimates(PS&Es)
for the Augustin Bernal Mountain Bike Trail. We are excited to be considered for additional work on this park
amenity. Our scope is based upon our conference call on 9/16/2020, the previous scope of work prepared by
Action Sports Construction, input from you on our Scope of Work outline, and feedback on our original scope and
cost. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like us to make additional modifications to this scope.
1 Meetings and Coordination
1.1 Background Research
Dudek will review background documents relevant to design of the trail, including, but not limited to, existing
topography, aerial photography,survey/as-built data for the parking lot at the end point,GPS data for the unofficial
trail alignment, and mountain bike trail guidelines from the International Mountain Bicycling Association(IMBA)and
other organizations. We will prepare a base map as well as load background data onto a Trimble GPS unit for use
in the site visit.
1.2 Meetings
To initiate the project, Dudek will conduct a Kickoff Meeting and Site Assessment. We suggest a location in the park
that allows for appropriate social distancing for the Kickoff Meeting. Items of discussion should include a review of
the existing trail alignment, the City's goals for the project, potential issues that could arise during CEQA that might
be eliminated in the design phase, the proposed schedule, strategies for gaining HOA approval for the project, and
other topics. For efficiency, the kickoff meeting could occur in conjunction with the kickoff meeting for the CEQA
work.
Following the meeting, we will tour the site with the City's Project Manager to GPS the existing trail, identify the
segment (or segments) of the trail that need realignment, identify and GPS the proposed alignment, discuss
potential new features, record locations for signage, note any environmental issues (drainage crossings, sensitive
vegetation, active erosion locations, etc.), and examine the connection to the parking lot at the bottom and the
existing trail at the top. The GPS data will be differentially corrected at the office for use in the construction
P220397
D U D E K 1 October 2020
