Ordinance 1903 <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />When the damage ratio is greater than 0.10 (10 percent) but less than 0.5 (50 <br />percent), buildings and structures, except essential service facilities included as <br />Category I buildings and structures in Table 16-K, shall have the damaged <br />structural members including all critical ties and connections associated with the <br />damaged structural members, all structural members supporting the damaged <br />members repaired and strengthened to bring them into compliance with the force <br />levels and connection requirements of the Pleasanton Municipal Code. <br />This criteria shall apply to essential service facilities when the damage ratio is less <br />than 0.3 (30 percent). <br /> <br />Exception: For buildings with rigid diaphragms where the above-required <br />repair and strengthening increases the rigidity of the resisting members, the <br />entire lateral-force-resisting system of the building shall be investigated. <br />When, in the opinion of the Building Official, an unsafe or adverse <br />condition has been created as a result of this increase in rigidity, the <br />condition shall be corrected. <br /> <br />When the damage ratio is greater than 0.5 (50 percent), buildings and structures, <br />except essential service facilities included as Category I buildings and structures in <br />Table 16-K, shall at a minimum have the entire building or structure strengthened <br />to comply with the force levels and connection requirements of the Pleasanton <br />Municipal Code. This criteria shall apply to essential service facilities when the <br />damage ratio is greater than or equal to 0.30 (30 percent). <br /> <br />The Building Official shall establish damage ratios. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />A summary of this ordinance shall be published once within fifteen (15) <br />days after its adoption in "The Valley Times," a newspaper of general <br />circulation published in the City of Pleasanton, and the complete ordinance <br />shall be posted for fifteen (15) days in the City Clerk's office within fifteen <br />(15) days after its adoption. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />This ordinance shall be effective thirty (30) days after the date of its final <br />passage and adoption. <br /> <br />Section 4. <br /> <br />The Chief Building Official shall file a copy of this Ordinance with the <br />State Department of Housing and Community Development and State of <br />California Building Standards Commission. <br /> <br /> <br />
