CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 535 <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE REGULATING DOOR TO DOOR SOLICITING <br /> AND THE CARRYING ON OF CERTAIN BUSINESSES IN THE <br /> CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> I. <br /> <br />Section 1. Purpose ~,~j~.~l~ <br /> The City Council hereby declares that this ~E~Fi~nce is <br /> <br /> adopted to achieve the primary purpose of regulating <br /> the activities of peddlers, solicitors, hawkers, itin- <br /> erant merchants, and certain businesses in order to <br /> promote the health, safety and welfare of the inhabi- <br /> tants of the City of Pleasanton and not for the purpose <br /> of raising revenue. The City Council, therefore, <br /> declares that the provisions of this o~e~i4nance be inter <br /> preted in order to accomplish the above enumerated <br /> purposes. <br /> <br />Section 2. Solicitation by peddlers, hawkers, and itinerant mer- <br /> chants <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any solicitor, peddler, hawker <br /> itinerant vendor, or any other person to go upon the <br /> premises of any private residence within the City of <br /> Pleasanton, without an invitation by the person in <br /> possession of said premises, for the purpose of solicit. <br /> ing orders for the sale of goods, newspapers, books, <br /> pictures, periodicals, magazines, insurance and buildin, <br /> and loan stock or accounts, or any other personal prop- <br /> erty, or for the purpose of demonstrating or disposing <br /> of the same, unless the solicitor, peddler, hawker, <br /> itinerant vendor, or other person first applies for and <br /> <br /> <br />
