Pleasanton Police Department <br />Pleasanton PD Policy Manual <br />Body Worn Camera Systems <br />(d) Taser Data - 2 years (EX: Taser download data) <br />(e) Training - 2 years (EX: Incidents/Arrests as approved by the Chief of Police for training <br />purposes) <br />In the event of an accidental activation of the BWCS (i.e. while on an authorized break, in the <br />police station, or in a restroom), that does not otherwise contain relevant evidence or information <br />related to a criminal or administrative investigation, the recording member may request that the <br />BWCS file be deleted by submitting a request in writing with sufficient information to locate the <br />BWCS file to the Division Commander who shall review the file, approve or deny the request, and <br />forward the request to the Program Manager for action. <br />In the event that an accidentally recorded video is made of a member in a setting, such as a <br />restroom or dressing room, and contains nudity or other potentially private or personal content, the <br />Division Commander shall ensure that the video in question is reviewed by a person of the same <br />sex as the individual featured in the recording. If it is determined that there is private content on <br />the accidental or unintentionally recorded video that does not otherwise contain relevant evidence <br />or information related to a criminal or administrative investigation, the Division Commander shall <br />endure that the video is not viewed by other mebers and is deleted as soon as possible. The <br />Division Commandershall ensure that the request and approval documentation is uploaded into <br />the online cloud database in place of the recording. <br />450.10 USE OF BWCS RECORDINGS FOR TRAINING PURPOSES <br />BWCS recordings may be used in conjunction with department training with the approval of the <br />Division Commander, and only after notification of the members involved in the recorded incident. <br />A BWCS file may be utilized as a training tool for individuals, specific units, and the department <br />as a whole. <br />BWCS recordings may be released for training purposes using the following procedure: <br />a) Submit the recommendation through the chain of command to the Division Commander. <br />b) Before approving the BWCS file for training, the Division Commander will assess the videos <br />value for training purposes and if appropriate for training, will notify all involved members. <br />c) If an involved officer or other member objects to the showing of a recording for training <br />purposes, he or she may submit the objection to the Chief of Police for final determination within <br />his or her sole and reasonable discretion. The decision of the Chief of Police to allow a recording <br />to be used for training is solely within the Chief's managerial discretion as department executive <br />and is not grievable or appealable. <br />Copyright Lexipol, LLC 2020/09/22, All Rights Reserved.
