McGuire Investigations
("EMI") to conduct pre-employment background investigations for finalist candidates
seeking full-time City employment. On July 1, 2017, the City entered into an agreement
with EMI for an annual not to exceed amount of $50,000; subsequently the City has
since extended the agreement via amendments. The contract will expire June 30,
2021. Thus, the total contract not to exceed amount is $200,000.
Per Section 4 of the City's Purchasing Policy if a contract with a vendor exceeds
$100,000, the City must seek Council approval.
RECOMMENDATION
Retroactively approve the professional services agreement with EMI from July 1, 2017
through June 30, 2021 for a total not to exceed amount of $200,000 ($50,000 annually).
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The City has already paid EMI $135,600. There are sufficient funds in the FY 2020/21
to cover costs estimated to be $15,000 for services to be provided in FY 2020/21.
