THE CITY OF CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT PLEASANTON. 11 October 6, 2020 Engineering TITLE: APPROVE PLANS, REVIEW PROPOSALS AND AWARD A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO GOODFELLOW BROS., LLC, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $232,072 FOR URGENT ROADWAY REPAIRS ON WEST LAS POSITAS BOULEVARD, BETWEEN HACIENDA DRIVE AND STONERIDGE DRIVE, FOR THE WEST LAS POSITAS BOULEVARD STREET SETTLING REPAIR PROJECT, CIP NO. 11514 SUMMARY Staff recommends City Council award the construction contract for the subject project to Goodfellow Bros., LLC, Inc. for $232,072 to perform urgent asphalt pavement repairs on West Las Positas Boulevard between Hacienda Drive and Stoneridge Drive. The roadway of West Las Positas Boulevard has been rapidly deteriorating in the past several months, impacting the drivability of the roadway. The work will include approximately 18,000 square feet of base repairs and 42,000 square feet of pavement leveling to reduce severe dips and cracks in the roadway This work is only a temporary measure until a more permanent solution can be implemented. RECOMMENDATION 1. Approve plans for the project. 2. Review the proposals received, and award the construction contract for the project to Goodfellow Bros., LLC, Inc. of Livermore, CA, for the low proposal amount of $232,072 for urgent roadway asphalt repairs on West Las Positas Boulevard between Hacienda Drive and Stoneridge Drive. 3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the project contract. 4. Authorize the Director of Engineering to approve and execute contract change order(s) and increase the contingency amount up to a not -to -exceed amount of $23,207 (10 percent of the contract) for unforeseen yet necessary related work. FINANCIAL STATEMENT The anticipated total expenditure for this project is $255,279. The current funding balance of the West Las Positas Boulevard Street Settling Repair is $425,230. Funding and anticipated project expenditures are detailed in Attachment 1.
