THE CITY OF <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />PLEASANTON. 11 <br />October 6, 2020 <br />Engineering <br />TITLE: APPROVE PLANS, REVIEW PROPOSALS AND AWARD A <br />CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO GOODFELLOW BROS., LLC, INC. IN <br />THE AMOUNT OF $232,072 FOR URGENT ROADWAY REPAIRS ON <br />WEST LAS POSITAS BOULEVARD, BETWEEN HACIENDA DRIVE AND <br />STONERIDGE DRIVE, FOR THE WEST LAS POSITAS BOULEVARD <br />STREET SETTLING REPAIR PROJECT, CIP NO. 11514 <br />SUMMARY <br />Staff recommends City Council award the construction contract for the subject project to <br />Goodfellow Bros., LLC, Inc. for $232,072 to perform urgent asphalt pavement repairs on <br />West Las Positas Boulevard between Hacienda Drive and Stoneridge Drive. The <br />roadway of West Las Positas Boulevard has been rapidly deteriorating in the past <br />several months, impacting the drivability of the roadway. The work will include <br />approximately 18,000 square feet of base repairs and 42,000 square feet of pavement <br />leveling to reduce severe dips and cracks in the roadway This work is only a temporary <br />measure until a more permanent solution can be implemented. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Approve plans for the project. <br />2. Review the proposals received, and award the construction contract for the project <br />to Goodfellow Bros., LLC, Inc. of Livermore, CA, for the low proposal amount of <br />$232,072 for urgent roadway asphalt repairs on West Las Positas Boulevard <br />between Hacienda Drive and Stoneridge Drive. <br />3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the project contract. <br />4. Authorize the Director of Engineering to approve and execute contract change <br />order(s) and increase the contingency amount up to a not -to -exceed amount of <br />$23,207 (10 percent of the contract) for unforeseen yet necessary related work. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The anticipated total expenditure for this project is $255,279. The current funding <br />balance of the West Las Positas Boulevard Street Settling Repair is $425,230. Funding <br />and anticipated project expenditures are detailed in Attachment 1. <br />
