THE CITY OF CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT PLEASANTON, 6 October 6, 2020 Community Development Traffic Engineering Division TITLE: APPROVE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH MARK THOMAS AND COMPANY INC., FOR THE NOT -TO -EXCEED AMOUNT OF $500,000 (CUMULATIVE) FOR ON CALL CIVIL ENGINEERING CONSULTANT SERVICES SUMMARY The City of Pleasanton's Traffic Engineering Division is responsible for many capital improvement projects. The majority of these projects require a traffic engineering - focused design firm, but some projects are better served with a civil engineering design firm. The consultant contract with Mark Thomas and Company will be for services between October 6, 2020 and June 30, 2023 for a total, aggregate not -to -exceed amount of $500,000 over the 3 year period (with two possible one-year extensions). Although the recommended aggregate not -to -exceed amount is $500,000 over three years, there is no guaranteed amount of work to be assigned to the consultant, and no guarantee that the $500,000 amount will be expended over the contract period. RECOMMENDATION 1. Approve the professional services agreement with Mark Thomas and Company Inc. to provide on call civil engineering consultant services for the not -to -exceed amount of $500,000. 2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the attached agreement. FINANCIAL STATEMENT Work under this on call agreement will be assigned as -needed and funded through specific Capital Improvement Project (CIP) funds or the Traffic Engineering professional services account, depending on the work to be performed. There is no new financial impact related to this on-call agreement, as budget for specific work will be assigned as available through CIPs or the Traffic Engineering professional services line item.
