THE CITY OF <br />CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />PLEASANTON. <br />September 1, 2020 <br />Engineering <br />TITLE: APPROVE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, REVIEW BIDS, AND AWARD <br />CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT TO SILICON VALLEY PAVING, INC. IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $281,172 FOR THE ANNUAL COURT RESURFACING — <br />ORLOFF AND KOTTINGER VILLAGE PARKS PROJECT, CIP NO. 21744 <br />SUMMARY <br />Plans for the Annual Court Resurfacing — Orloff and Kottinger Village Parks Project, CIP <br />No. 21744, were completed and advertised for construction bid in July 2020. Two bids <br />were received by the advertised bid deadline of 2 p.m. on August 12, 2020. Bids ranged <br />from a low of $281,172 from Silicon Valley Paving, Inc. (SVP), to a high of $379,525. <br />Staff recommends the contract be awarded to the lowest bidder, Silicon Valley Paving, <br />Inc. for the bid amount of $281,172. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1. Approve plans and specifications for this project. <br />2. Review the bids and award the construction contract to Silicon Valley Paving, Inc. for <br />the bid amount of $281,172. <br />3. Authorize the City Manager to enter into the project contract. <br />4. Authorize the Director of Engineering to approve and execute any required contract <br />change order(s) for up to a not -to -exceed amount of $28,000 (approximately 10 <br />percent of the construction contract) for unforeseen yet necessary related work. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />Funding for the Annual Court Resurfacing — Orloff and Kottinger Village Parks Project, <br />CIP No. 21744, totals $316,894. This includes the bid amount of $281,172, plus <br />approximately 10 percent for contingency and minor costs for bid advertisement. The <br />anticipated total expenditure for this project is $309,295. Funding and anticipated <br />expenditures for CIP No. 21744 are detailed in Attachment 1. <br />
