Future Planning Calendar <br /> Planning and Permit Center Manager Melinda Denis gave a brief overview of future items for <br /> the Commission's review. She noted the upcoming meeting date for July 22, 2020 would be <br /> cancelled due to lack of agenda items. <br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS <br /> Chair Ritter stated he and Commissioner Allen attended a State of the City meeting held by the <br /> City Manager Nelson Fialho. The successful reopening of Downtown and the intent to keep the <br /> COVID-19 testing center open were discussed. It was also reported that only 50 percent of <br /> citizens visiting the downtown area had been wearing masks and this percentage needs to <br /> increase. <br /> Commissioner Allen informed the Commission of the special Council Meeting on <br /> July 14, 2020, to discuss and evaluate policing and a workshop scheduled for July 21, 2020 to <br /> receive community input. Commissioner Allen also stated businesses, such as Workday, were <br /> discussed and how things were going to look moving forward with the increase in <br /> telecommuting. <br /> Chair Ritter mentioned Costco was still going through the environmental lawsuit. <br /> Commissioner Allen further explained a judge would review the case in September and would <br /> then know if the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) needed to be redone as the mediation <br /> was unsuccessful. <br /> Planning Commission Minutes Page 7 of 8 July 8, 2020 <br />ow the conversion of a boiler room, he found it unlikely they would disallow <br /> the conversion of a pool room just because it was not specifically listed. Ms. Clark stated staff <br /> would further review the regulation and ensure it was defensible. <br /> Commissioner Balch inquired if any of the Commissioners were concerned about the 25-foot <br /> height restriction. Commissioner Allen stated she could support the recommendation because <br /> it was simple and consistent. She stated she would have been open to stating ADUs should be <br /> no higher than the primary residence, but she was amenable with the current proposal. <br /> Commissioner Balch stated the ADU would always be a few feet shorter than the primary <br /> residence based on the means of measuring ADUs and primary residences. Ms. Clark <br /> explained staff's decision on the 25-foot height maximum to address Commissioner Allen's <br /> concern about neighborhood uniformity.
