SUNOL BOULEVARD/I-680 IMPROVEMENTS <br /> PA&FD <br /> CONSULTANT will prepare Advance Planning Studies (APS) for the following <br /> structures: <br /> ✓ I-680 SB On-Ramp(Widen),approximate width is 26',approximate length is 174'. <br /> Use of cast-in-place pre-stressed box girder is assumed <br /> ✓ Special Design Retaining Wall under Abutment 1 at Pleasanton-Sunol RD UC, <br /> Approximate Length is 209'. Use of tie-back(ground anchor)wall is assumed <br /> ✓ Special Design Retaining Wall under Abutment 4 at Pleasanton-Sunol RD UC, <br /> approximate length is 267'. Use of tie-back(ground anchor)wall is assumed <br /> ✓ Special Design Retaining Wall under Abutment 1 of Railroad Bridge.Approximate <br /> length is 16'. Use of tie-back(ground anchor)wall is assumed <br /> ✓ Special Design Retaining Wall under Abutment 2 of Railroad Bridge.Approximate <br /> Length is 16'. Use of tie-back(ground anchor)wall is assumed <br /> ✓ Special Design Retaining Wall along NB Sunol Blvd. Approximate length of wall <br /> is 785'. Use of soil nail wall is assumed <br /> ✓ Special Design Retaining Wall along SB Sunol Blvd. Approximate length of wall <br /> is 127'. Use of soil nail wall is assumed <br /> ✓ Special Design Retaining Wall along SB Sunol Blvd. Approximate length of wall <br /> is 327'. Use of Caltrans Type 1 wall is assumed; because of high PGA, special <br /> design could be required. <br /> The bridge and special design wall APSs will be prepared in Caltrans format using Caltrans <br /> Office of Special Funded Project (OSFP) Information and Procedures Guide 3-2 and <br /> Caltrans Memos to Designers (MTD) 1-8. The APSs will include plans, APS Checklist, <br /> Design Memo and Itemized Cost Estimate. FourStructure Preliminary Geotechnical <br /> Reports (SPGR) will be prepared to provide geotechnical recommendations for the <br /> proposed structures. <br /> The APS Plans will show the following: <br /> 1. Plan views,Elevation views and Typical Sections showing the preliminary structure <br /> types recommendation. <br /> 2. Preliminary profile grade and superelevation diagram. <br /> 3. General dimensions for the structures such as overall lengths,widths, and depths. <br /> 4. Available vertical clearances. <br /> 5. General aesthetics recommendations. <br /> 6. Preliminary foundation types recommendation. <br /> 7. Preliminary abutment and bent type recommendation. <br /> 8. Approach slab, and barrier type <br /> The APS Design Memo will include the following: <br /> 1. Important or unusual design assumptions or structure features, <br /> 2. Local agency requirements such as aesthetics, improvements in the vicinity of the <br /> structure,or other obstructions. <br /> 3. Any special foundation requirements. <br /> 4. Any construction requirements, including limited site accessibility, vertical <br /> clearance restrictions, and limits on night time/day time work. <br /> 5. Record of discussions with Caltrans personnel concerning any key assumptions. <br /> Apn110,2020 20 <br />
