THE CITY OF 2 6
CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pL£ASANTON
June 2, 2020
Operations Services
TITLE: APPROVE A THREE-MONTH CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH TERRA
LANDSCAPE IN THE AMOUNT OF $40,000 FOR CITY-WIDE WEED
ABATEMENT SERVICES
SUMMARY
The Parks Division of the Operations Services Department is responsible for managing
weed abatement services within the City and has been under contract with Terra
Landscape since November 2015. Terra Landscape provides weed abatement services
at various locations throughout the city including roadsides, drainage ditches, curbs and
sidewalks, industrial sites, bioswales, and open space parcels. The current contract with
Terra Landscape expires on July 1, 2020. Staff was unable to conduct a competitive
bidding process for a new weed abatement contract due to the Alameda County Shelter
in Place Order. It is recommended to amend the existing contract with Terra Landscape
for a not to exceed total contract amount of $40,000 and extend the term of the contract
for three additional months. This will allow staff time to conduct a competitive bidding
process and prepare a new weed abatement services contract.
RECOMMENDATION
Authorize the City Manager to amend the contract with Terra Landscape for a not to
exceed total contract amount of $40,000 and extend the contract for three additional
months from July 1, 2020 to September 30, 2020.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The cost to complete weed abatement services for three months is $40,000 and funding
for the Terra Landscape contract is allocated in the Parks Maintenance, Utilities
Maintenance and Streets Maintenance operation budgets under contract services.
Funding for weed abatement services in FY 2020/21 is included in the Operations
Services division budgets.
