THE CITY OF 25 <br /> ==� "' CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br /> pLE ASANTON. <br /> June 2, 2020 <br /> Operations Services <br /> TITLE: APPROVE A THREE-MONTH CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH WEST <br /> COAST ARBORIST, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $105,000 FOR ANNUAL <br /> TREE TRIMMING AND REMOVAL SERVICES <br /> SUMMARY <br /> The Parks Division of the Operations Services Department is responsible for managing <br /> tree trimming and removal services within the City and has been under contract with <br /> West Coast Arborist, Inc (WCA) since July 2015. WCA provides consulting services, <br /> tree removal and maintains trees throughout City parks, medians, parking strips, and <br /> facility landscapes. The current contract with WCA expires on July 1, 2020. Staff was <br /> unable to conduct a competitive bidding process in order to prepare a new tree trimming <br /> and removal contract due to the Alameda County Shelter in Place Order. It is <br /> recommended to amend the existing contract with WCA for a not to exceed total <br /> contract amount of $105,000 and extend the term of their contract for three additional <br /> months. This will allow staff time to conduct a competitive bidding process and prepare <br /> a new tree trimming and removal contract. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Authorize the City Manager to amend the contract with West Coast Arborist, Inc for a <br /> not to exceed total contract amount of$105,000 and extend the contract for three <br /> additional months from July 1, 2020 to September 30, 2020. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> The cost to complete tree trimming and removal services for three months is $105,000 <br /> and funding for the contract with West Coast Arborist is administered by the Operations <br /> Services Department. Funding for tree services is allocated in the FY 2020/21 Parks <br /> Repair and Replacement budget. <br />
