Review and Allocate Community Grant Funds in the Youth Category for Fiscal Year <br /> 2020/2021 <br /> Ms. Thomas reviewed with commissioners the application process for the Fiscal Year 2020/2021 <br /> Community Grant Program advising that a total of seven applications have been received in the <br /> Youth Category with a total $40,000 budgeted for allocation between the seven applications. <br /> Chairperson Jain opened the meeting for scheduled presentations at 6:14 p.m. <br /> Hively / Recognizing the Signs of Anxiety and Depression — Kelly O'Laque Dulka — thanked the <br /> commission for considering Hively's request for funding and provided information about mental <br /> health issues and the signs of anxiety and depression being experienced by youth and <br /> especially teens. Ms. Dulka commented on the increase in teen suicides and how Hively started <br /> providing services to help during these difficult times. She advised that Hively is looking to <br /> address anxiety, depression and mental health issues by providing community forums and <br /> workshops for teens, parents, and educators. <br /> Ms. Dulka informed Commissioner Piergrossi that the Recognizing the Signs of Anxiety and <br /> Depression program is a new program for Hively. <br /> Commissioner Mokashi discussed with Ms. Dulka the structure of the workshops. Ms. Dulka <br /> noted that the intent is to be able offer resources that will be beneficial to all who participate in <br /> the program. <br /> Commissioner Chang was advised by Ms. Dulka that the success of the program will be <br /> measured by responses received from attendees and learning what they have been able to gain <br /> from the workshops. <br /> Youth Commission Minutes <br /> March i !, 2020 <br /> Page I <br />
