BACKGROUND The Pleasanton Police Department is currently equipped with Axon's X26P Taser, Axon Body 2 cameras, Axon Evidence storage with Evidence.com and Axon interview room cameras with automatic transfer to evidence.com. The Taser X26P's were purchased in 2013. The Body 2 cameras were purchased in 2015 including Axon Evidence.com software. The interview room cameras were replaced in 2018 with Axon cameras which automatically integrate with Evidence.com. Axon is no longer producing the Taser X26P and new technology is replacing the Body 2 cameras. Axon's new products are the Taser 7 and Axon Body 3 cameras. DISCUSSION In 2019, the Police Department was informed the Taser X26P was no longer in production. We have been experiencing maintenance issues with our current supply of the Taser X26P and they have reached their end of useful life. Axon will not be repairing or replacing the Taser X26P because they will be discontinuing this product. Axon is offering the Taser 7 as the new replacement for the Taser X26P. Axon is the sole source supplier of the Pleasanton Police Department's chosen body worn cameras, body worn camera footage/digital evidence storage and Taser conducted energy devices. Axon is now offering a five year bundle package known as the OPS 7+ plan. This plan includes the Taser 7, Axon Body 3, digital evidence storage and several additional features to support this hardware. Axon is not allowing agencies to purchase Taser 7s or Axon Body 3 cameras independent of this bundle and there are no other suppliers to purchase this equipment. Axon has been a very reliable vendor with excellent products and customer service.
