FOR THE NOT-TO-EXCEED AMOUNT OF <br /> $375,000 TO PROVIDE AS-NEEDED ENGINEERING SERVICES TO <br /> SUPPORT THE MCINERIZON FIBER INSTALLATION <br /> SUMMARY <br /> MClmetro Access Transmission Services Corp. d/b/a Verizon Access Transmission <br /> Services (MCl/Verizon) is planning to install 32 miles of new fiberoptic cable within the <br /> City of Pleasanton's right-of-way over the next year to support its Optical Distribution <br /> Network (ODN) and future small cell wireless network. Consultant support will be <br /> necessary during the project to review and approve the project plans and to issue <br /> encroachment permits. MCl/Verizon will cover all costs associated with required City <br /> plan review and permit inspections. Staff will utilize the City's existing on-call consultant, <br /> Pakpour Consulting Group, Inc., for the project. Staff recommends entering into a <br /> professional services agreement with Pakpour Consulting Group, Inc., for the not-to- <br /> exceed amount of$375,000 to provide as-needed engineering services to support the <br /> MCl/Verizon fiber installation project. <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a professional services agreement <br /> with Pakpour Consulting Group, Inc., for the not-to-exceed amount of$375,000 to <br /> provide as-needed engineering services to support MCl/Verizon fiber installation. <br /> FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br /> Funds are budgeted in the Engineering Department's Professional Services Budget for <br /> this work. However, there is no financial impact to the City as under the MCINerizon <br /> Master Encroachment Agreement, MCINerizon has agreed to full cost recovery. <br /> Therefore all expenditures associated with this contract will be reimbursed. The <br /> reimbursement is included in the City's budget as revenue to offset the professional <br /> services expense. <br />
