• Discouraged:
Stark white, bright pastels, pink, and/or bright intense primary colors in a large
expanse, etc. Trim colors may deviate from this restriction.
3.5 Metal Work:
Exterior metals including flashing, chimneys, vents, crickets, etc., shall be painted,
anodized, or treated in a manner to prevent bright or highly reflective surfaces.
Section 5.0 Fences/Walls:
5.1 Common Rear and Sideyard Fencing:
May be constructed of wood, stone, plaster, concrete, or a combination of these
materials. Fence heights and designs shall conform to the standards of the Pleasanton
Municipal Code for the R-1-20,000 district, except that side and rear property line fences
may be up to eight feet in height without Zoning Administrator approval if the top two
feet is an open lattice or similar design treatment. Solid board fences over a height of six
feet would require approval by the Zoning Administrator.
5.2 Interior Yard Walls and Fences:
These walls and fences should be designed as an integral part of the home archi-
tecture and the surrounding landscape elements. If the end of the fence or wall is visible,
the end should return to expose a minimum 24 inch dimension.
5.3 Walls and Fence Materials Encouraged:
Walls finished with cement plaster, stone or brick, masonry, cast concrete,
shaped plaster, or tile.
• Fencing and ornamental iron painted in muted, blended colors.
• Dimensional lumber siding for fencing is allowed but requires adequate paint-
ing or staining to insure against uneven weathering, or severe checking and
splitting.
• Sheet siding such as plywood or masonite may be allowed, but must be used in
conjunction with sufficient masonry and trim accents to maintain and overall
high quality appearance.
5.4 Walls and Fence Materials Discouraged:
False fiber board stucco, metal siding, vinyl siding, exposed plain concrete block,
and flat sheet siding such as plywood or masonite.
Pa, c .5 0 8 per Planning Commission: June 2.i, 2003
PUD-27, Design Guidelines Q' f
