One of my kids
shared with me that just the other day a fellow student was vaping during class, with the device in his
sleeve. When asked why he was doing that he said, "I just can't stop." These kids had no idea just how
addicted they would become or just how much damage it would have on their bodies.
It is our responsibility to ensure that our kids are not unknowingly manipulated by big tobacco companies. We
finally have a generation of kids that wouldn't dream of smoking, but have been tricked into thinking that
vaping is no big deal and safer than cigarettes. We all know the rapid decline many have suffered as a result
of vaping and I ask you to please protect our kids. Let's follow suit with our surrounding neighbors and not
become the place to score flavored tobacco and vaping supplies. Now it is time for the city to do it's part and
move forward with the Youth Commission recommendations.
Sincerely,
Lisa Ager
