THE CITY OF
East Pleasanton Specific Plan
Public Comments pLEAS4NTONo
From:Jamie Yee
Sent:Wednesday, November 20, 2019 8:18 AM
To: Mayor and City Council <citycouncil@cityofpleasantonca.gov>
Subject: Follow up
I should not be making public comment when I am tired. I don't think I made sense. Sorry about that.
The point I want to make about the Housing Element is solely depending on the developer I don't
believe is a good idea. There needs to be an advocacy effort to compel the State to provide grants or
some funding mechanism to help with infrastructure. I am concerned with the cost being passed on to
Pleasanton residents.
Another concern is with one well down, there needs to be a clear plan of how the water situation will be
addressed, not just for this development but now. If the shut-down well provided 10%of our water,
how and when the water needs will be met? I am concerned with potential cost increases for clean and
safe drinking water.
The selection of the community committee for the eastside project needs an open and transparent
process. In the past committee development has felt closed and selective". When there are times for
open community weigh-in on plans, it has felt like a check the box exercise. Don't ask for opinions if
there truly is no desire for input and desire to make any alterations.
Affordable housing is also a concern. I have been interested in this for school staff for some time. I am
not convinced that Ponderosa is able to build affordable housing the same way a non-profit developer
would. Non-profit developers have access to other funds for-profit developers do not. I would like to
see some flexibility in the project where a few developers are involved and not just one.
And just like most others, I do not want to see our city look like the sardine can of houses in Dublin and
increased traffic.
Thanks and let the eastside fun begin!
Jamie Yee
17
Provided to City Council for the February 18, 2020, Meeting
