THE CITY OF
East Pleasanton Specific Plan
Public Comments pLEASANTON0
From: Noel Messenger
Sent: Monday, November 11, 2019 8:53 AM
To: Mayor and City Council <citycouncil@cityofpleasantonca.gov>
Subject: Housing for developmentally disabled individuals
To the city counsel:
I have lived in Pleasanton for over 25 years. I raised my family here and it is a wonderful place to
live. However, my youngest son was diagnosed with Autism disorder at a young age and he is now 26,
working part time and attending classes at Las Positas. He has gone through considerable life training
and is ready to live on his own. We are aware of Sunflower hill, but the number of kids that can live
there is very limited. Those individuals who already reside in the DD housing that is available is rare so
there do not appear to be adequate opportunities here. It would be a shame to have to relocate our
entire family because Pleasanton cannot provide adequate DD housing. I understand that REACH wait
list has 77 people and there are hundreds on the SFH wait list. Coreys income including SSID is less
than $900/month. I hope that you can take additional actions to provide more housing for these
capable, hard working individuals.
Thank You.
Noel Messenger
El Neal St.
Pleasanton, CA 94566
6
Provided to City Council for the February 18,2020, Meeting
