<br />PLANNING COMMISSION CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. PC-99-95 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPLICATION OF BYRON & BRENDA <br />DRONKERS AND PAUL & FIONA SMITH FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT, <br />AS FILED UNDER CASE PCUP-I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Byron & Brenda Dronkers and Paul & Fiona Smith have applied for a conditional <br />use permit to operate a children's activity center within an existing industrial <br />building located at 1056 Serpentine Lane (Valley Business Park); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, zoning for the property is Planned Unit Development - Industrial (PUD-l) <br />District; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at its duly noticed public hearing of December 8,1999, the Planning Commission <br />considered all public testimony, relevant exhibits, and recommendations ofthe <br />City staff concerning this application; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, projects ofthis nature are categorically exempt from the requirements of the <br />California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA); therefore, no environmental <br />document was prepared for this project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission made the following findings: <br /> <br />I. The proposed location of the conditional use is in accordance with the <br />objectives of the zoning ordinance and the purpose ofthe district in which <br />the site is located. <br /> <br />Objectives of the zoning ordinance include: fostering harmonious, <br />convenient, workable relationships among land uses, protecting land uses <br />from inharmonious influences and harmful intrusions, and insuring that <br />public and private lands are used for the purposes which are most <br />appropriate and beneficial to the City as a whole. The proposed use, <br />defined as a recreational facility, is included in the listed facilities <br />permitted to operate in this zoning district under a conditional use permit. <br />The use would be in close proximity to Alisal Elementary School and <br />Quarry Lane Preschool, as well as Diablo Gymnastics. The proposed <br />activities would be conducted in accordance with the Pleasanton <br />Municipal Code Section 18.48.020. <br />
