THE CITY OF 17 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT pLEASANTONo January 21, 2020 Library and Recreation TITLE: ACCEPT THE PUBLIC ARTWORK, EVENTIDE AND APPROVE THE LOCATION FOR EVENTIDE AT THE ALVISO ADOBE COMMUNITY PARK SUMMARY Eventide is a 6-foot long cold-welded steel replica of a mountain lion selected by the Harrington Art Partnership (Attachment 1). The proposed location for the art piece is the Alviso Adobe Community Park. The Public Art Selection Sub-Committee (PASS), the Civic Arts Commission, and the Parks and Recreation Commission have reviewed the art piece and recommend the piece be placed at Alviso Adobe Community Park (Attachment 2). CIVIC ARTS COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION Recommend the location of the public artwork, Eventide, at the Alviso Adobe Community Park, northwest of the orchard. PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION Recommend the location of the public artwork, Eventide, at the Alviso Adobe Community Park, northwest of the orchard. RECOMMENDATION Accept the public artwork, Eventide, and approve the location for Eventide at the Alviso Adobe Community Park, northwest of the orchard. FINANCIAL STATEMENT The artwork, Eventide, which is valued at $1,000, will be purchased through the Public Art Acquisition Fund #50550110-430107. Pursuant to the terms of the Harrington Art Partnership, it is the City's responsibility to coordinate and pay for the installation of the public artwork. The cost of installing the piece is estimated between $4,000- $6,000 and will also be funded through the Public Art Acquisition Fund #50550110-430107.
