THE CITY OF 9
mh CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
pLEASANTON_
December 17, 2019
Human Resources
TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE TEMPORARY, PART-
TIME/SEASONAL CLASSIFICATION SALARY STRUCTURE
SUMMARY
Compensation for temporary employees is established by the City Council and reflected
on the City's publicly posted Temporary, Part-time/Seasonal Classification Salary
Structure. Periodically, the salaries are studied to determine whether they are
appropriate to attract and retain qualified employees to support the programs and
services provided by the City. A compensation study was conducted in 2018 and
Council approved wage adjustments for both market and compliance with the minimum
wage increase on January 1, 2019. On January 1, 2020 the California minimum wage
will again increase rising from $12.00 per hour to $13.00 per hour requiring adjustments
to the salary structure in order to meet this mandate.
RECOMMENDATION
City Council adopt a resolution approving changes to the attached Temporary, Part-
time/Seasonal Classification Salary Structure.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
The financial impact as a result of the implementation of this recommendation is an
estimated $18,500 per year. The expected impact in FY 2019/20 will be $9,250 and will
be incorporated in the midyear updates to the City's budget.
